tools for change

Are you haunted by the past?

Do you desperately wish it would just stop?

A traumatic experience is one where your well-being, or that of someone else, was threatened or harmed.

The effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can impact everything from your sleep, relationships, work, to even how you feel about your body.

Have you experienced feeling…?

  • Panic
  • Guilt and shame
  • Constantly on alert
  • Disconnected
  • Sad or numb
  • Angry

Do you find yourself…

  • Avoiding things that trigger you
  • Having disturbing dreams
  • Experiencing troubling, persistent thoughts
  • Never really feeling safe

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LIFE

About half of women in the U.S. will experience trauma in their lifetime. The effects of trauma itself can make it hard for you to reach out and get the help you need. My name is, Lillian Hood, and I’m a psychologist who works exclusively with individuals who want to overcome the effects of trauma and anxiety.

I’ve been helping people like you for more than 10 years. I’ll help you learn the skills you need to deal with your trauma. I’ll work with you, in a respectful and empathetic way, to help you process the past, so it doesn’t keep dominating your present. I only use evidence-based methods. That means that science has shown them to be consistently effective. You’ll learn tools you can start using right away.

Like others who have been through trauma therapy, you could be able to do things, independently, alone, or at night again. You could look in the mirror and feel good about yourself and your body. You could return to work or perform better at work. You could break the cycle of ending up in unhealthy relationships. You could regain and build self-confidence. Imagine what life would be like if trauma no longer held such power over you!

virtual sessions using video conferencing

I am located in Wilmington, NC and I conduct all consultations online using a secure video conferencing system.

This has been particularly useful to people with PTSD who struggle to go out in general or who have bad days from time to time, making it difficult to meet in person. This allows us to keep making progress so those bad days become fewer and farther between.
